What Happens At A Family Fit Class

OUR STORY

They Grown Up So Quickly...Dont They!

They say 75% of the time we spend with our kids in our lifetime will be spent by the time they are 12. I know I had visons of playtime, time at the park and every day bike rides as new mom. However, it seemed to all go by in a rushed blur between getting ready, daycare drop offs, commuting to work and running a household. As they got older, evenings became drop offs to sports and friends. All good things, but the time to connect was literally in the car.

As a kid, I remember my Dad leading bicep curl and push up challenges in the family room after dinner (granted - he was probably holding cigarette this was the 80's after all!). Our family had so much fun. These are some of my fondest memories of my Dad as a kid, so naturally, I extended these impromptu fitness challenges to my own family.

After 20+ years of a corporate desk job, I began to realize I wasn't contributing to this world in a way that I wanted to. This idea of of running family fitness classes kept whispering to me like the "Into The Unknown" song from Frozen 2.  It took many years for me to be brave enough to leave a really admirable and very secure job to pursue this idea, but I finally did it! I decided to dedicate this time I have on earth to helping families get off the screens and active together.

I dove into developing a class structure that's targeted to get everyone's muscles burning and heartrate up through partnered games, group exercises, challenges, agility courses and obstacle courses. This all in the spirit of having fun, connecting and making memories together. So far - there are two branches of classes - one for those families with younger kids (age 2-5) and one for families with school aged kids (age 5+). â€‹

As important as having fun and getting active is knowing that this these classes were designed for all fitness levels and are adjustable for those with injuries. Also, we never know if our kids will follow or feel like hanging out in the corner that day right! The classes are pretty relaxed in this regard, there is no judgement on anyone's fitness level or anyone's kids...we are all parents and we all get it. Besides, everyone is busy doing the games or challenges to notice anyone else.

And so far the reviews are in.... families are really enjoying it.

"Rave to familyfit.ca! My family and I had so much fun last night doing a family fitness class together. Rhonda was so informative and made the entire experience so entertaining. I asked my daughter what she loved the most and she said the obstacle races were we raced against each other. I think I like the clean up game the most haha. I wasn't able to do all the exercises du to massive cysts on my organs but Rhonda modified things for me so I could participate. I highly recommend you check her out.
You wont even feel like its a workout!"

"I had the best time last night with my girls at Family Fit. Mommas! If you are looking for something fun and active to do with your kids, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND trying this. Rhonda made it beyond fun..and I don't even like working out. Bit I loved this and my kids didn't want it to end. The music was awesome and she had the lights going and we had a great time. Its not just a work out - its a bity of play and imagination for everyone"

My wife and I aren't the biggest fans of working out, but this class, although it kicked our butts, was really actually fun! You are so engaged in the games an challenges with your kids - your forget that you are working out! There are times where we were breathless with our muscles burning but we were laughing"
